For most of us, a vacation is usually a physical escape from ghastly fluorescent lights and the ill-appointed cave we fondly call the office. Although we may travel to an exotic locale, the dark cloud of work still looms on the horizon. Through the haze of one or two or three mojitos, we may find ourselves searching for the nearest Internet café or checking our omnipresent Blackberry. This is not the case, however, on the Riviera Maya on the east coast of Mexico.
El Dorado Maroma in a Nutshell
A little further down the road from sister Karisma resort El Dorado Royale, the allinclusive El Dorado Maroma is the newer and more intimate place.
The drive into the property is through a mangrove jungle that does make you wonder where you are going, but the reception area immediately lets you know that El Dorado Maroma offers a different experience from El Dorado Royale but one that is equally romantic and luxurious.
Many travelers have been to the “mini-Miami Beaches” of Acapulco and Cancun, but there is a new world of travel delight now in full swing along the “Maya Riviera,” the hundred mile stretch of gorgeous beaches south of old Cancun. Also in the Mexican State with the marvelous name of Quintana Roo, this new stretch reaches from the international airport down to the ancient but impressive Mayan pyramidal ruins of Tulum, one of the very few cities the Maya ever built.
